ITU code 4-056-3 expands to network=4, cluster=56, member=3 within the 3-8-3 bit layout (14 bits total). The same decimal integer differs from an ANSI 8-8-8 code that merely “looks similar,” which is why plan selection matters before pasting into an STP.

A point code is the network-layer address of an SS7 signaling point (SSP, STP, or SCP). ITU-T uses a 14-bit structure (3-8-3), ANSI uses 24 bits (8-8-8), and some national variants use other bit splits.
You cannot losslessly map arbitrary ITU 14-bit codes into ANSI 24-bit space without an agreed translation plan. This tool reformats and validates structure within each numbering plan; cross-plan conversion needs operator interconnection documentation.
